The Best New Retail in Paris – April 2024
Brands in Paris are living up to the city’s reputation for chic fashion, with their latest store launches. Luxury is the focus this month, but in surroundings that are clean, understated, and at times, rustic. Stores also continue to push on with sustainability efforts across design, products and services.
We have a luxury retailer opening a bookstore, a shoe store opening a repair centre, and a fashion brand including upcycling in its product offerings.
Here are the most fashionable retail stores we have found in Paris this month.
Both, Marais
French shoe brand Both has launched a new store in Paris.
The design of the store is sleek and industrial, with black metal plinths and utilitarian wire baskets as fixtures and fittings. The window contains a display of Both’s famous Gao boots, which are coated in rubber at different stages of progress, showing the process of applying the finish.
The new collections include green rubber, symbolising spring, and there is also a unique kitten heel in shades of bright colours.
Veja General Store, Rue de Marseille
Veja, the sustainable footwear brand, has launched a new kind of shop in France as part of its latest concept.
The store is minimalist and warm, with wooden shelves for items, and concrete and glass used throughout. In keeping with the brand’s sustainability goals, the store uses renewable energy.
The General Store offers repair and cobbling services for shoes and clothing from any brand. There are also a range of products from sustainable brands like Snow Peak and Public Supply, offering furniture, socks, books, and cleaning products.
Saint Laurent Babylone, Rue de Grenelle/Champs-Élysées
Iconic luxury brand Saint Laurent has opened a new cultural space in the form of a bookstore.
Customers can browse a curated selection of books spanning fashion, photography and literature, including first editions, and vinyl records. There is also a collection of homeware products from Saint Laurent’s Rive Droite range.
Additionally, Saint Laurent is hosting a series of events, such as exhibitions with Theo Le Foll and Jeremy Shockley, and talks with Juergen Teller.
The brand has been very busy recently, also opening its largest store in Paris.
The space features four floors, combining rustic materials and large marble tables, with sculptures, a tropical garden and floor for VIPs. While the store is large enough to contain the full range of Saint Laurent products, the brand has instead opted for a curated approach. Items are displayed carefully and with space around them, meaning the customer is not overwhelmed by products.
Massimo Dutti, Champs-Élysées
An impressive renovation has happened at the recently opened Massimo Dutti store.
The store has been redesigned to take into account the light and structure of the space, providing a clean and spacious aesthetic. Taking influence from Japan, the store features trees hidden by wooden slats, and architectural spheres in soft colours.
Customers can find the full range of Massimo Dutti’s fashion collections, across womenswear, menswear and accessories. There is also a space to upcycle clothing.
Massimo Dutti is also focusing on a more personalised experience for shoppers, by offering in-store advisors, customer service booths, and seamless technology, with online purchases able to be collected at the store.
BDK Parfums, Rue Saint-Honoré
Specialist perfume brand BDK Parfums has opened a boutique in France.
The boutique is a place where customers can learn about the notes and elements that go into making the brand’s scents. The store has been designed to resemble an apothecary, with small tester bottles of perfume stacked neatly in line across a shelf. An array of perfume boxes are stored on shelves above, organised by colour.
Customers can access the full range of BDK Parfums collections, including La Collection Azur and La Collection Parisienne, and other scented products, such as candles. A special new fragrance was created for the launch, called 312 Saint-Honoré in honour of the store location.
